  • What do you call a thing that can be legitimately served for breakfast, brunch, or dessert? I don’t know exactly, but this is that thing. These caramel apple cinnamon rolls are not only good for any time of the day, but they are shockingly simple to make. You can have them on the table in under an hour and people will be impressed. These rolls look unassuming from the outside (except for the delicious caramel sauce which we will tackle in a minute), but they are actually stuffed with a wonderful fall filling. The filling is simple, but tasty. The only thing to remember about it is to make sure you peel and core the apple and dice the apple very tiny since it’s going to be rolled up in the dough. You don’t want any huge apple pieces. When the rolls are done you can just drizzle on the caramel sauce and then they're ready to serve! When you cut into these, it’s awesome to see the layers of filling and sauce. It’s one really delicious bite.

Caramel Apple Cinnamon Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 can (8 oz) Crescent Seamless Dough Sheet
  • 1 apple peeled and diced
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Quick Caramel Sauce

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 350°F. In a small bowl, mix together diced apple, cream cheese, and cinnamon.

    Roll dough sheet out onto a clean surface and cut into 6 long strips.

    Divide apple filling between the strips and roll each one up into a roll.

    Place rolls upright in a muffin tin.

    Bake rolls for 18-20 minutes until they are golden brown.

    For caramel sauce, combine sugar, butter, milk, and salt in a small pot over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is bubbling. Let caramel thicken for a few minutes over the heat. Then remove from heat and add in vanilla.

    Let caramel cool and it will continue to thicken. When rolls are done, drizzle with caramel sauce.
