Out of barbecue sauce? No problem! It's simple and fast to make. You may never buy it again.

More About This Recipe

  • Don’t you hate when you run out of something that you are so used to having like mayo, ketchup and (gasp) barbecue sauce? I do. It totally drives me crazy. Especially since it usually happens right when I am about to serve home fabulous homemade chicken fingers.

But it doesn’t have to be a total disaster. In fact, with a few basic ingredients and spices, you can have homemade barbecue sauce in about 10 minutes.

    No, really. I mean it.

Easy Homemade Honey Barbecue Sauce is so fast to whip up that you’ll barely notice you did much more than measure.

Don’t be fooled by the ingredients list – it looks long, but really just involves a little measuring and mixing to make. Seriously, making homemade barbecue sauce couldn’t be simpler or easier.

And better yet, it’s super cost-effective. You probably have most of the seasonings on hand already … then all you need is balsamic vinegar (a pantry staple!) and tomato paste (another pantry staple!). Easy peasy.

Now, this is a mild and sweet Honey Barbecue Sauce recipe. Want to make it spicy? Use chipotle powder in place of the chili powder, and double the amount. You can also used smoked paprika in place of the Hungarian Sweet Paprika for a little more heat.

    Great Sides for Barbecue Dinners

So you’ve got some delish pork chops or ribs or chicken on the brain. Yum. This barbecue sauce is the ticket for that success. But what to serve with it? Try one or two of these perfect side kicks:

    Glazed Carrots and Parsnips
    Green Beans with Colored Peppers
Baby Peas with Lemon Pepper and Honey
    Zucchini with Edamame and Tomatoes
Grilled Corn on the Cob with Herb Butter

Here's the barbecue sauce recipe -- get cooking!
