Do yourself a favor and let your slow cooker solve your potluck problems. This portable potluck dish is easy to throw together and just as easy to transport to the party. Sweet and tangy chili teams up with a trio of baked beans and bacon for the slow-cooker side dish that everyone will be lining up for.

Slow-Cooker Cowboy Beans

Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 can (19 oz) Progresso™ cannellini white kidney beans, drained, rinsed
  • 1 can (19 oz) Progresso™ red kidney beans, drained, rinsed
  • 1 can (15 oz) Progresso™ black beans, drained, rinsed
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Step

    In 10-inch skillet, cook beef, bacon and onion over medium-high heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until beef is brown and onion is tender; drain.

    In 3 1/2- to 4-quart slow cooker, mix beef mixture and remaining ingredients. Cover; cook on High heat setting 3 to 3 1/2 hours or until slightly thickened.
