  • Bulgogi marinade is simple to make, very flavorful, and super versatile. Once you have all the ingredients in your pantry, it’s one of those sauces that you can just whip up and throw on for an awesome dinner that requires no forethought – like that flank steak that has been in your freezer. This Bulgogi Burger is a great example of this flavorful Korean sauce’s versatility. Mix it into some ground beef and you have a new twist on burgers that is sure to surprise and delight at your next BBQ. These don’t need cheese, but if you insist, I would use American. A good friend who was over for dinner called these a delicious surprise, and I think that was a good way to describe them. The meat was super savory with a little hint of sweet and sour, and the kimchi added freshness and a little spice. I served them with some sweet potato tortilla chips, which worked great. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup sesame seeds
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 5 scallions, chopped
  • 5 cloves garlic, grated
  • 2 tablespoons grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 12 mini burger/slider buns
  • 14 oz kimchi

Instructions

    Add all ingredients except beef, buns and kimchi to a small bowl and combine to form a paste. Mix the paste with the ground beef to season it. Use immediately, or cover and refrigerate beef 1-2 days to allow flavors to meld.

    Form the meat into 14 evenly sized, thin burger patties and grill 5-7 minutes per side to medium well (or longer if you prefer).

    Serve patties on the burger buns, and top with kimchi.
